Recipe: Biscuit Treat for Rabbits
1 cup fines (save fines by shaking remains of feed bags over a clean screen or crush pellets to a dust)
1 cup flour (not self-rising kind)
3/4 cup milk
1/2 cup oatmeal
1/4 cup molasses
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup Cheerios
1 banana, mashed
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Sift the fines and flour together in a large bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients to the bowl & stir well. Drop mixture onto a cookie sheet. Bake 15 to 18 minutes.
Note:I got this recipe and a few other tips from a website before it became inactive. I used my hands to mix everything. Also, when I first made these I used what was called for; now I only use the fines, milk, flour, molasses, and then I add my own stuff that my 2 rabbits like (rosemary, chamomile flowers, pineapple, black oil sunflower seeds, etc.). I do bake my biscuits longer so they are harder to help the rabbits keep their teeth trim. Oh by the way, when you make this, it looks and smells yucky, and it sure does sink up the kitchen with a yucky smell, so wear a gas mask!
Your rabbit may turn its nose up to this new food, just toss the biscuit to them like in the morning and see if they ate it or at least some of it when you feed them at night. It took Bubba half the day to decide to try one and it took Precious only an hour, now they both go bonkers when they see me with the bag (I keep biscuits in a zip-lock bag)!
