Vertical Gardening
All praise be to Allah SWT the cucumber plants are growing well.
Yesterday husband said he has never seen a cucumber plant growing vertically. In Cambodia they grow all over on the ground. So he thought vertical planting would never work. I told him that all thanks to the book 'Square Foot Gardening', my first attempt at vertical gardening is quite successful.
Lots of pretty yellow flowers are blooming now. I just love looking at them!
Next to the left of the cucumbers are radish.
They are all tops (leaves) and no bottoms (root). According to the book, either there is too much nitrogen or the plants are not getting enough sunlight. I used miracle growth potting soil, which has enough nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium to last for 3 months. I am not too worried about the radish, will just let them decide how they want to grow. Even if we don't get any edible roots, they still look pretty in the pots.
Right now the rest of the plants are growing very well. All praise be to Allah SWT the recent rainfall and warm weather has helped.
I think I'll have to get another two pots for the Thai Basil and tomatoes soon. Or I might use the radish pots instead of buying new ones when we harvest them in another two weeks' time.
If we run out of space to walk in the patio garden, I will have to grow the tomatoes in a hanging basket, Allah SWT willing.
