Homeschooling a 3 Year Old
All praise be to Allah SWT, daughter can recognize all the alphabet letters when she turned three years old. So now I am using a preschool activity workbook to get her to do some coloring with pencil and crayon. When she was two years old, she kept telling me that water coloring and finger painting made her 'dirty', but now she wants to do these activities every day!
Since husband brought back a big white board that he found next to a dumpster near his workplace, I have put up daughter's 'master pieces' on it for us to appreciate.
Right now I am focusing on:
Science: Life cycle of plants.
Language Arts: Mother Goose Rhymes + Phonics
Arts/Craft: Primary color combination (blue+yellow; red+yellow; blue+red)
It's a good thing that I really enjoy working on these projects with daughter, or else it would be difficult to find motivation and energy to do so.
When husband comes back from work, daughter would proudly show off her 'hard work' for the day.
I find that learning through unstructured play is the best way for daughter to absorb information now. She has fun while learning and even though she may work on the same theme for a few days, she is gaining confidence and loves to experiment with different materials.
