A Poem about the Joy of Reading
I just read this wonderful poem in the book Honey for a Child's Heart by Gladys Hunt.
It truly reflects how I feel about reading!
He ate and drank the precious words,
His spirit grew robust,
He knew no more that he was poor,
Or that his frame was dust,
He danced along the dingy ways
And this bequest of wings
Was but a book. What liberty
A loosened spirit brings.
