Going Back to Work
I have applied for a full-time teacher's aide position at the school where I used to work as a Librarian and Substitute Teacher.
Why?
Because of somethings that my mother said to me last week. Mainly (in no particular order):
1. I should contribute to the betterment of society with my skills and experience. I can help the school with my organizing skills and be a cheerleader for the teachers and staff.
2. I should start saving up for my children's college education.
3. I should prepare for my retirement.
4. I should buy my own house instead of renting so as to build up equity.
After two sleepless nights thinking about it, I can't help but agree with my mother. The first reason really motivates me to go back to work. Although it has been fun and fulfilling being a 'Domestic Diva', I miss interacting with students on a daily basis. I would love to participate in school activities such as field trips and annual graduation ceremony. I would love to hang out with the teachers and have a great time working with them.
I know that I should stay home with DD1 and DD2 while they are still so young but I am getting restless. Restless because I can contribute so much if I work there full-time instead of working part-time. If I were to go back to work full-time, I am not worried about DD1 and DD2 because I have a friend who is great with kids and can take good care of them.
Husband did not say much when I told him about my decision to go back to work. He pretty much left it to me to make the call.
Allah SWT willing we'll see if I get the job by the end of July.
