Update: Lettuce, Soy and Hot Pepper
I am growing lettuce in this shallow loaf baking dish to see if lettuce will do well in this type of container.
All praise be to Allah this container seems to be a good home for lettuce.
Hot pepper plants are growing like crazy now that the weather is warmer and more humid. I hope that we can harvest more hot peppers during summer so that we can freeze them to last us throughout winter, Allah SWT willing.
Soy (edamame) plants are also growing well in these containers. I tied them to stakes so that they are not leaning over the edge of the pots. This is to prevent the lean stem from breaking due to the weight of the leaves.
Daughter and I scattered egg shells around the plants to help them grow better. I might start to sprinkle some milk powder around the plants to give them some nutrients boost.
As of today I have not seen any more slugs around the plants. Although several of the beans and hot pepper plants have holes in their leaves, I am not too worried.
Neverthless, the battle with the slugs will go on, and on, and on....
