Suffering in Gaza Strip, Palestine
Since the news broadcast about the heavy bombing and senseless killing of Palestine civilians in the Gaza Strip by the Israelis arm force, it's been difficult for husband and I to watch the news.
According to a PBS documentary about the U.S president Harry Truman, the current Israeli state was created, with aid from the United States, in parts of Palestine shortly after World War II.
What gives the Jews the right to take away land from the Palestinians? Simply because they claim that the Bible and Torah said that the land belonged to them before they were banished by God to wander in the desert. So now it is their God given right to take back 'their' land after the holocaust that happened in Germany? Why not take land away from the Germans and set up their state there?
Before I came to the U.S.A., I had no idea about the history between the Israelis and Palestinians. I wondered why they kept on killing people and cause misery to thousands of innocent people, but I never bothered to find out the truth.
All praise be to Allah SWT now that I am more educated on this issue, it infuriates and saddens me to see innocent Palestinians being killed. If my home were to be bulldozed to the ground by strangers who demand that I leave my land, I would feel helpless and angry like what Palestinians experience every day. It is every person's God given right to defend his or her property and life, and to fight against tyrants and bullies who oppress them.
Besides praying for the people in Palestine, Muslims all over the world are holding rallies in major cities against this war crime and donating money to help provide food and medicine to Palestinians.
Latest news report about the crisis is available on the PBS web site http://www.pbs.org/newshour/indepth_coverage/middle_east/conflict/
Parallel Realities: A Jewish/Arab history of Israel/Palestine by Eric Black.

Summary: In the Israelis' and Palestinians' long struggle for security and identity, each side holds sharply different views on the major historical events affecting the land that both peoples claim. This chapter covers the historic arguments, from thousands of years ago through the 20th century. The author's statements in this chapter are based on the writings of scholars and the words of Palestinian and Israeli leaders.
